I hope I am asking the question on the right section.

If I register a brand new domain (never bought/ranked before) and I do 301 redirect to another website, then the domain name of the bought website will be ranked?
For example suppose I have a site with domain example1.com and I go ahead and buy the domain thisismyquestion.com . Then I do 301 redirect the thisismyquestion.com to example1.com will the example1.com or the thisismyquestion.com rank for the long tail "this is my question" ? I dont care about the position, just curious if any would rank.
Keep in mind the new domain (thisismyquestion.com) never had been registered before

Thanks in advantage!

if you will use Do follow then it will be

No idea why people are talking about follow/********, got nothing to do with a 301 redirect!

If you 301 redirect your old domain to your brand new one then yes, your new domain should in theory rank very similarly.

However, this can take some time (in my experience as long as 3 - 6 months in extreme cases)

Also, don't forget that your old domain may have links incoming to lots of pages and not just the root domain, you should think about this and how it will affect your rankings.
