Domain name an malware

I recently registered a dropped domain name, but now when I upload a site on it, my browser says there's malware on the site and won't let me access it.

How can that be, I have just bought the domain and there can't actually be malware on a domain name, it's just a name!?!

There seem to be some pages indexed from when the domain was still active and had a site on it, these also show malware. So is there a way to get past this issue and start fresh with the domain? Or do I have to wait forever until Google forgets about these indexed pages.
