Hi guys, I am trying to assess wether or not to attack a specific keyword.

I checked the top 10 results and they all have less than 100 page backlinks, with a high search volume. But the problem is that they have a LOT of domain backlinks (over 30,000).

    How will this effect me?

Can i still compete in this niche?

    Thanks.

When you say domain backlinks are you referring to sitewide backlinks...as in footer/sidebar links? If so I wouldn't worry about these. Google has gotten very good at devaluing footer/sidebar links. This isn't just speculation, Google has patents specifically aimed at determining which sections of a website are the header/footer/sidebar/content area. You should be good to go.
