Domain = Keyword, Website or Blog?

What do you think I should do to take best advantage of this domain? (The domain is the keyword I'm going after, a rather easy keyword too).

Open up a content website with 5-10 pages of content dealing with the domain name and then focus on building backlinks to that content,

or

Leave the blog I have up on it. I am the 10th result and have had the blog up for a little over a week.

The thing is, a blog would need to be frequently updated to remain the first result right? So would it be to my advantage to switch to a content website versus a blog?

A Blog is a content Web site. It just depends on how you set it up...the theme etc. Most Blogs run off of content management software (like Wordpress). Many Web sites use content management systems (Joomla, Drupal). What I'm trying to say is that the distinction that you are trying to make doesn't really exist.

Anyways, You can get some PLR articles for your Blog, rewrite them, and schedule them, and there you have your constantly updated content.

I mean a content site as something more like html.net with minimal pages and nothing in really a blog format. Where I don't update often if ever and can focus on SEO.

A blog requires posting rather often to remain ranked high which gets time consuming as you get more and more sites.

Put up a wordpress site that you host and set it up like a website. best of both worlds and you get all in one seo plugin

I think it quite depends on the niche you pick and whick kind of content google associate with.... -> Wordpress blogs have to get updated quite often in my opinion...

Yeah, maybe I should stick with it having a blog for now and hope that once it's established and move up to the number 1 spot that I'll be able to slow down and post only 3 or 4 times week.

Eventually, if I can't get it up, I might try a website

Make sure the blogs have the unique and quality content.It is a good way to start and get backlinks from the visitors.

I post a 100% unique post once a day (or try to). The only problem is I don't write posts with SEO in mind very often so I rarely get more than 5 views a day on any post other than the one my keyword is based on.

I don't think that blogs NEED to be updated all the time for better rankings.

And anyway, with WP, that would apply only for posts, not for pages.

I don't think it's necessary, but you could always set up an automated blog system related to the keywords to show the blog as updated, and the content you've got into pages, which stay the same.

Then work on SEO.
