Domain is pendingDelete. Should I use services to get it?

There's a domain I've been waiting to drop, and it's now in pendingDelete phase.
Months ago I registered in sites like pool and namejet that it'll get the domain for me once it drops. it should cost me $69 I think.

I could cancel the deal with these sites and try to register it myself when it drops, in hope nobody else registers it before I do.

What do you guys suggest? any experience with this situation?

If it's an attractive domain, forget about it: someone else will use one of the expired domain reg services to snap it up before you can manually register it.

So, if you're sure it's a good domain, use a service to snap it up.

Personally, I like snapnames, just because I've been very successful in getting most of the names I've wanted using it.

You can try but no surety to get that.

Depends on the registrar where the name was previously registered. But if it's worth anything then I would put in for the domain.

If you really want it, keep the backorder services and let them try and get it for you...they use automated tools so they have a better shot at it. You will probably be sleeping when they will be grabbing it for you.

does anyone have any links to good articles which explain the process of "catching" a domain?

eg

1. if you put into these catchers will they make it public & turn your domain into an auction
2. if yes; do they do this at all "statuses" or only during pendingdelete/redemptionperiod
3. which catchers are associated with which registrar (anyone know about Tucows ?)
4. at which point is it best to register your interest with the dropcatcher?

It is a question of if you will use this service or try to grab it on your own. If you decide to use this service, you should do so ASAP...as domain names and domaining becomes more popular, this practice gains popularity as well and you may end up second in line after someone with an interest in the same domain if its worth anything, therefore don't wait..
