Domain Idea

Hi Guys

During taking shower this morning an idea popped into my mind. It is probably not new and already around. Anyway I'm very new to this domain thing and I also don't know the law. That's why I'm asking you guys.
So is it legally to register domain names in private people firstname lastname? Register them and contact them after in Facebook and offer them something?

Interesting, but you end up with a very small market to sell to if the person with that name isn't interested. Sure there are others with that name but, right off the bat you're targeting to a very small market and fronting your own $.

blackmail them tell you put some not so good for them pictures in that website if they don't pay o_0 just a thought, would not be funny for them

fuck no... you can easily sell domains to them. especially if you look up not too famous artist and you make them a good offer with own blog etc.

So do you think i could get away with it? Or are there any rules like in companies that you can't take such domain names?

I knew a "guy" who used to call companies and say they were a domain registrar and had been contacted by a client wanting to buy said compaines availible TLD, but being a nice registarar he wanted to offer said company first refusal. At a low rate of $20 each.

Yes it's a valid scam. Not ethical but mildly profitable. Buy their firstlast.com and for extra effect publish sophomoric content on them. Make it look quasi autobiographical but don't be libelous. If you happen to snag a picture from the victim's Facebook account, Photoshop it to downplay their natural assets. Sell it to the victim in this vein: "I'm a fan of yours and am trying to really make you stand out on the web. Please paypal me some cash to fund my continued development of your site. Or if you're not interested and want me to clean up the site and transfer the domain to you outright, I would be willing to sell for $5k."

Yeah thanks I have already a new idea. Don't really want to scam;-)
