Domain .GG: Experience in choosing domains

Hello all, :)
Currently, I want to purchase a .gg domain for a game website. However, I am hesitant to buy it because, according to Google's definition of top-level domains (Source: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/specialty/international/managing-multi-regional-sites?hl=en), I'm not sure if the .GG domain is affected by location. Anyone with experience can offer me advice. Thank you! And... should choose domain: .io or .gg?

not gonna lie, .gg sound amazing for a gaming website since all gamers know what GG means :D

But I see on Wikipedia that the .gg refers to Guernsey (whatever this is), so I'm not sure that you won't get into troubles for using it...
 
First off, .gg primarily associates with Guernsey, but in the gaming world, it's a common pick. As for the location factor, Google's been pretty smart lately and often doesn't pigeonhole you based on TLDs, especially for non-country specifics like .io or .gg. That said, between .io and .gg, it really boils down to branding and your target audience. If you're catering mainly to gamers, .gg is a no-brainer. But if you're looking for a broader tech audience, .io might be your play. Just my two cents based on my ventures.
 
Wouldn't worry about it, google is smart enough to figure out where a website is intended for, especially if the TLD is for a small country.

Yes. I worried about that. I like .gg but It is not common. I checked many domains on the same topic but didn't see .gg
 
.gg for a gaming website looks pretty cool actually. I don't believe Google will penalize you because of the TLD
