Domain for redirect - Relevancy important?

I have found an expired domain for sale which has some great backlinks from sites where I would love to have a link.

So now I would like to purchase this domain and redirect it to my website to get some link juice.

The only issue is that the domain I want to buy is in the travel nice and my main website is in the finance niche.

Most anchors for the backlinks of the expired are the domain name and the brand name, no keywords.

Will I still benefit from the 301 redirect even though there is no relevancy? Or would this be a big no?

You are in non spammy niche where relevancy actually matters.

Redirecting unrelated domain would completely screw the relevancy of your money site and most likely would result in your site tanking.

All in all, the risk:reward ratio simply isn't there. Wait until you get closely related domain, then you can proceed with the 301.
