Will someone explain me "domain authority", and tell me if I should be bothered about it? Unlike many of you I am no SEO expert and the term only vagely crosses my mind...

    Here's what happened:

I have tons of sites, all with good PR, some with more than 50k uv's/day (organic)
On one of my sites I often sell guest posts. The buyer suddenly stated that my domain authority is 0 and he backed off.
I checked all my domains and they ALL have 0.

How is that even possible, considering that some of the sites area really ranking good for core keywords, get a lot of traffic etc...

(all sites are hosted on the same server, does that play a role?)

Thanks in advance for clearing up my mind :)

Domain authority is a measure of the power of a domain name and is one of many search engine ranking factors. Domain authority is based on over 40 different factors some of which include Age, Popularity, Inbound Links and Size.

Nice article. I've seen sites with high DAs (50+) that are mostly due to no-follow spammy comments on .gov/.edu.

So, darling Map, don't look at just one metric. Look at a lot of them. :)

Yeah, but people are blind, they trust DA/MOZ for some unexplained reason

Thanks a lot for the share, SkyRocket.

I guess what we need to do is to explain times again to all those believing in the unconditional authority of popular/famous bloggers and sites that not all that glitters is gold and critical thinking should be applied to even the most trusted and 'believable' sources.

something I suspected for some time, great article !

as for @op if you have that much traffic, don't worry about DA there are great ways to monetize it, just look into it.

I'll never understand why when there are so many articles on how to fake DA on MOZ.

If you have really good backlinks and good PR or qualitative content on your website, no need to worry about domain authority. Just know how to drive in good quality traffic.

You must have brought these domains but if site has high PR and 0 DA and if you dont work on that site continously you are tend to loose that pr very soon and high DA comes only after working on the site but domain age is the main factor
