Domain Authority Question

Guys,

I have a site that ranks top 10 for every keyword it targets. When the site started, i have an info graphic that was shared on pintrest like 10k times. And the site has about 50 decent links going to it from avg domains. When i go to moz and put in my domain it shows my domain authority is only 14!!!! WTF. How can i rank for 10k a month terms and only have a DA of 14? The site has over 150 ranked pages, so i would consider it an authority site in the niche. and my next question, how can i go about increasing the sites authority in moz?

Why are you concerned about DA score? The website is ranking and getting organic traffic. So you are on right track.

DA can manipulate with spammy links, so high DA not mean high authority website.

ok so is it safe to say that DA is pretty much bs when it comes to moz or ranking? It appears to be the case in this case. I guess the only real way to keep increasing authority is buy contextual quality links.
 
DA is a MOZ metric and they have their own way of calculating domain authority. They have nothing to do with Google who have their own way of determining your domain authority. Google have apparently already given you the needed authority, so bothering about MOZ is irrelevant.
 
You don't have to worry about Moz at all, mate. If you have established your rankings in Google and it hasn't changed, ignore what Moz is showing you. -Micah
 
If your site is ranking but low score in metrics, I believe the ranking is a more solid indicator than having a high metrics but no ranking in the process.
Furthermore, I do not think DA would consider social metrics, as it is mostly a link-based metrics, which may not consider the social shares that your site is having.
Nevertheless, you should also cross check your site on other sites like TF, and check whether there are any authority domains linking to your site, as having a high value link to your site, is more worthy than thousands of spam links.
 
If your site is ranking no need to pay attention to DA or any other third party metrics. Just focus on your content and backlinks - these matter the most and it's what google picks up. Add good backlinks, get more higher rankings, and forget about the metrics. However, metrics are useful if you want to have a general opinion about a site or a domain but it's not a rule of thumb to have a third party score.

If you do all the things in the right way and get the good ranking, you don't bother about the authority metrics. Because the decent ranking and organic traffic lead to increase your site authority for sure.

Adding fresh contents regularly, got contextual links from high authority site will helps to increase your DA. Now days, most of the SEO people don't consider about DA they give more importance for TF/CF, RD, DR, Organic Traffic.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Yeah, you know the site is very stable and going on about year 5. I was kinda concered, but the rankings speak for themself. I will continue to do guest outreach for quality links and just ignore the other 3rd party bs tools. I have NEVER had any luck with 3rd party stuff, they are ALL so different. i check moz its one thing, i check majestic its another.

Yep, all of this 3rd party metrics are good only for initial filtering of websites / domains when you are looking for guest post for example. For you own website? Completely useless, especially MOZ since their index is the worse - they probably did not have the links to your website indexed thats why it showing such low DA.
