Domain Appraisal

Hi guys,

I am closely following video games market, and last year i have purchased exact match domain name of what people say, the best MMORPG in 2016 which ends with .net . If you were me, would you offer it to the game developers/publishers, and if so, for what price? P.S. was brand new when i purchase it, and it didn't have any website on it.

Well if you manage to make it a great website with a lot of traffic you will be able to ask a lot for it.

Thought of it myself as well, but it's tons of work and i have bunch of projects already running.

Then it's not worth more than reg fee (so like $8 basically). I don't think game devs would go for that name anyways.

Nope, i am saying exact name match like gamesname.net Hopefully it's worth something to them

The Witness ? This domain was on sale few days ago.

Anyways, DO NOT offer domain to them, they can take it for free if you do that, its called cyber squatting (I guess you already know that).

Nah it's not the witness, it's another one. So basically, the best thing would be to build a fan website/forum on the domain and try to profit from that? The keyword has 201k monthly searches, and low keyword competition.

Agreed with SkyrocketSEO. If you attempt to reach out to the devs/publisher, you'll likely just end up with a takeover request from their lawyers.

Jr. VIP material right there. You'll get hit with a cease and desist letter and/or be required to hand over the domain.

I have some branded domains where companies don't bother with me. But I also have/had some domains where companies did all they could to stop me from having/using domains. It depends, you never know

Its never happened to me but if a company tried to do something to take it from me I would make it an extremely vulgar porn site until I lost it.

Usually, exact match domains are not worth the extra money.

I say the word "usually", because if you are just going to buy an exact match domain thinking that will get some sort of automatic SEO advantage, you have another thing coming to you.

With that said, exact match domains are great if there's no hyphen and if you are going to fully develop the website.

The problem with the .net domain is that it's not as good as the .com.

You're going to get locked in a perpetual struggle with the .com version of your name.

Think of it this way, you're putting all this work building up a brand and it's linked to a .net extension.

On the other side of the equation, somebody has the .com and they're doing nothing at all.

What do you think will happen?

That's right!

A certain chunk of your typed in traffic will go to .com.

That's how it works!

Are you willing to take that risk?
