I going to soon purchase a domain. But I figure I will purchase the domain and hosting from the same source as it can be easier. Are there specific hosting companies that works better with WordPress compared to other companies.

I was planning on using 1and1 since they have decent prices and they also have nice prices for domains as well. Anyone used them before or now with both domain and hosting?

I do want to get a hosting which might cause problems using WordPress.

I've heard great things about HostGator, and am thinking about switching to them as soon as my prepaid time is up with my current host.

Don't purchase domain and hosting from same providor. If you receive spam complaints then they will cease the domain also.

Always purchase domains from Namecheap and host it with someother company.

As a developer I dislike hostgator. They have too many security modification that cause issues with softwares. I've been with hostmonster for 4 years and they've always been very good with me.

I agree for the domain, go with godaddy or namecheap. For the hosting, hostgator and hostmonster are great shared hosting options. If you are doing any auto-blogging, go with hostmonster as it will work better than hostgator in the long term

    Always go for reputed ones.

Domain name - namecheap and few other popular ones.

Hosting for Wordpress - hostgator. best for wordpress sites, better support and very low downtime. May be you face downtime once is 5 months or so when they reboot the server or for maintenance.
