Hi all, I have been a member on here now for some time and my site is close to 1 year old now. In this time I've spent thousands on services here for my site but I am still getting beaten in the seo ranks by my competitors who don't have any backlinks but have sites which are several years old.

For an instance like this I am wondering should I change my tactic? Would something like 301 redirects help Google think my site is older and help me rank with competitors better? For some keywords in 3-6 on Google just trying to get into thst 1-3 fold now the keywords are also very low competition

That really isn't how redirects work.

What services have you used? What kind of backlinks did you buy? How good is your content? What niche are you in?
 
Thanks for confirming that just thought I would ask package have been from multiple sellers with a variety of services/link types and it's not a high competition niche its a pet website
 
I can assure you that pet niche is one of the most competitive out there. I get asked about pet related domains 5 times a month. Everyone and their mom has a site about pets, because they are "passionate about their family dog" so they start a pet site.

Now to the links. I am afraid you have made a massive mess out of your backlink profile with shittons of links of terrible quality. Your niche relevancy and anchors are probably over the place. Forget about any 301 redirects as that will make the situation even worse.

I would pay someone decent to audit your site and take it from there. Just don't waste any more money on foundation link packages please.
 
It's one specific type of pet which is of very low competition in the uk. For my links I have around 3.2k at the moment across 450 domains so not too many to accumulate in a year?

Any specific packages or types of links you recommend?
 
Domain age has little to nothing to do with SEO,
It's just a myth shared by plenty of domain sellers to up the prices of worthless domains,

Probably how long certain websites/pages has been running/indexed do have some kind of impact but it's not as big,
Not something that you would put a considerable amount of money into even while buying a website,

And as mentioned by @Nargil, you have to re-audit the website before jumping into buying a bunch of other links,
Maybe you're targeting the wrong keywords, check the top pages/websites for each of the keywords, including their authority, links & content,

Make sure you have the right content used to match the users search intent as well as similar to the top ranking results,
Work in your website on page, including the EAT pages like authors, about, contact, legal links (privacy, terms...), internal links, schema markup, silo, etc...

Also, what kind of links are you getting, many sellers are just reselling cheap stuff with fancy fake promises, totally worthless stuff,
Especially in the last couple of years many type of links won't even get you the slight results as they used to do

I have much better success with totally fresh domains than aged ones with backlinks from expired domains auctions.
I think these aged domains are already tested for performance by Google and "marked" somehow.

In my opinion you can have success only if you buy aged domain with website currently up and running, and ranking.
In that way you can see real performance of aged domain before buying it.

Instead of trying to trick Google with redirects, focus on making your website better with good content and a great experience for visitors to move up in the search rankings.
