What is the most important part to an auction domain.

The domain age or its backlink profile?

Say if i bought auction domain that only has a ahrefs DR of 5 but its 11 years old.

Would this be a decent domain to work on or pointless because its so weak?

In most cases, if we're talking about SEO, I think domain age has a very minimal effect. (attn: I don't talk about website age, blank domain registered in 1995 is nothing)

Yeah, age (index age, not whois age) is helpful, but it's not going to magically make a weak profile magnitudes better.

P.s +1 for the Gypsy King avatar too

Thanks lads.

This domain does have some backlinks its just not that powerful.

There are many sites out there with some domains linking to them - so having DR 5 means nothing at all. I can just run my spam software, and get 1000+ domains linking back with no issue, so this is a very bad metric in measuring anything. But DR5, but it's a microsoft link, or CNN, or ABC, CNBC type of link, then it's extremely worthwhile to have that link, as it costs a couple of $$$$ to get such a link back to yoursite.
