Domain Age, how to keep it?

I was thinking about buying some old domain. I heard that you have to be carefull about "losing the Domain Age". What should I do to make sure the domains I buy keep their actual DA?

So if you catch an "Expired" domain name, you lose his actual Age?

Depends on if it actually drops back to the registry or not. If you catch it while it is still held by the registrar, you don't lost the age. Once it goes back into the registry's pool, it's like a new name.
