domain 301 re-direct duplicate content query????

Hi my website has been up online for a few months now and i have it in webmaster tools.
Today i bought a new domain (emd) and re-directed (301) it to the website already in webmaster tools. If I verify this new domain in webmaster tools would this be bad?

Would I get penalized for duplicate content?
