Hi,

Im looking to do domain 301 seo and find some site to place hardlink.

I fimd one interesting site, the niche is close enough to me, not exactly the same but still a lot of similarity.

The Domain Rating score from ahref is really high, 94.

While mos show Domain Authority 12, and spam score not showing

While semrush give Authority Score 2

The different are so much.
I see some backlinks (i can see limited since it s free veesion) and most of the link does relate to the site. But there r lot of them i cant see.

What will u do in this case? Will u decide to buy this domain or use this site for ur backlinks?

Some post recommennds to use those numbers to based the decision but 2 of them are conflicts so much.

I do understand that these metrics are invented by them, and nothing to do with google. But for newbie lile me ot s the number like this i cam see and use some sort to based the decision on.

Typing on a shaking bus, apologize for misspell.

Thank you.

the differences are indeed too big. And - even though Ahrefs is usually the accurate one - in this case I actually think the opposite, simply because I've heard that the DR metric can be artificially inflated too, so it's possible that the owner of that domain had done some shady stuff to increase the DR...

If you have access to Ahrefs, check the domain in great detail, that's the only way you can tell. Check for all of these things....

- number of indexed pages
- number of ranked keywords
- traffic and ranking history
- number and quality of RDs + number and quality of backlinks

More specifically, check the best RDs and backlinks, literally load the pages with those backlinks in your browser and have a look at them to see if the links are still there and how good / legit they are...

I recommend focusing on checking the quality and relevance of the backlinks rather than the raw authority scores. Ahrefs shows a high DR, Moz and Semrush show much lower authority, this just shows the different evaluation method. If the site has strong, relevant backlinks and trustworthy content, it might still be valuable for SEO purposes, especially for a 301 redirect or backlink placement.

As stated by @tazarbm and @OnlineProxy, you should check the links manually, you can't just rely on metrics,
Now, for your case, as you're stating that you're using the free versions of the chekers, I'm assuming the domain price is not as much,
And there's no good domain that you can get for free, if you do so, you're winning the lottery lol,

It's most likely that the domain DR is inflated either by spammy links used to manipulate it, or the way Ahrefs' system is working,
For these, get a Semrush shared/trial account and check most of the top links manually, including the website as overall,
A quick check should do the work. Do they seem natural? What type of links are they getting? How many good/bad links are there?
Check the domain usage history, traffic history, anchors, etc. If something doesn't make sense (spam, low historical traffic, etc), just forget about it

I’d pay more attention to the backlink profile instead of just the numbers. If the site has good, relevant backlinks and isn’t full of spam, it might still be worth using. But with scores that different, I’d take a closer look before deciding.

if the seo ratings from tools like ahrefs, semrush, majestic, and moz are way off from each other, that’s usually a sign the domain was heavily manipulated to boost one of those metrics. who did it and why is a separate question, but the main point is this: such a domain won’t perform like one with an organic rating.

to confirm if the rating was inflated, compare both the quantity and quality of backlinks across different tools. if the backlink profiles look more or less the same but the scores are very different, it’s almost definitely manipulation.

on the other hand, if the tools show very different data (like 1,000 backlinks in semrush vs. 20,000 in ahrefs), then it’s worth manually checking the backlinks. in that case, the rating difference could just be due to the size of the backlink database for that specific domain. you have to keep that in mind.

but as others have already said, the key is always to go deeper and review the core backlinks carefully

hello,

I check as all of you recommend.

I try to see all the backlinks. No SEO shitty links relate. Usually, a lot of fake backlinks will come from some SEO.com type website but this one, it seems the backlinks come from other websites that have a similar niche to them.

I go deeper, check one of the backlinks itself. it's a legit website, and the score is also good. I don't see any link farm on their homepage or other page. There is an affiliate program page, but it's more like 'if you put this website link into your web, then you get commission'. More than putting your link into my site and paying me kind of things.

7.9 M is quite a lot.

So it seem like, the website A I found get mention in this website B which have a huge traffics a lot? I want to go straight to the source and place my link in Web B but it doesn't seem to open for people to place a backlink. Unlike website A where I can see 4 advertise backlink place in there.

If I place my banner in web A. Would I also get the juice from web B as well? maybe not directly.

definitely, getting a link from site B sounds like a great move! but a backlink from site A probably won’t pass much link juice to your site. still, if it’s cheap and relevant to your niche, why not?

looks like ahrefs is overrating site A just because of one strong backlink

Where there's such huge difference, it's usually a red flag. Unless you're buying a domain just to show off high DR/DA, there's no point such a domain because you may never rank with it despite it's DA.
