Doing it without go0gle

I have always had it in my mind that if you want your site to do well you need to rank well in go0gle. End of story

I recently changed my outlook, and with a new site that I launched i marketed it exclusively thru facebook. And wow, what a difference!

Not only am I getting fantastic results, but it is instant and so easy!
I am getting over 200+ hits a day on a site that is only 4 days old. I only spent maybe 2 hours doing facebook "marketing" for a much better result than if I was trying to get it to rank in go0gle

All the hours of backlinks and optimization on other sites seem like a real waste of time.

this does not work on all types of sites.. but yes its a good option, i did this for one of my sites on tv shows... FB traffic is good for that... but SE traffic as its own value, ironically

could you hint on what form of FB marketing works best for you?

I've also seen people here doing great with getting loads of targeted people from Twitter.

The site I'm marketing does have a viral elemement that when people register it posts on their facebook wall that they registered. Other than that my main sources of traffic from facebook are just from "spam" posts on popular walls

Like neo3187 says, depends on the site a lot

I have always found the facebook permissions dialog to be of too much friction to the users.
Recently FB changed the Like button behavior (the one you can use on websites without granting any permissions), so that it displays the Like in users feed the same way as if the user shared a link, so I think I will go for that from now on.

How do you find popular walls for your niche - do you just manually search on FB?
