There ya go, although if you meant CPU mining before you were correct in your assumption of it not really being worth it. Unless you have an incredible CPU, or access to something like that as someone mentioned above, even that's been saturated with some heavy hitters now. I actually tried to run that Primecoin (XPM) and my speed was such a joke. Lol. Now granted this isn't a top of the line Intel OC'd out or anything, but it is a six-core @ 3.3Ghz. To be fair I didn't try any settings really to improve it, but I feel pretty confident after seeing my numbers that a few settings weren't going to help me enough to make it any kind of worth it.
Honestly I think you're best bet is to try and go into with the mindset I've went into this with. It's fun, it's interesting, and maybe I'll make a few bucks from it in the long term, but I'm not betting or risking anything even close to enough to make me uncomfortable, and I'm not counting on. or expecting any huge return. The entire crypto currency scene and everything around it intrigues me, so for me it's like a new fun hobby that I'm indulging in. I don't mean that to say that you can't invest in the coins, or the equipment right now and start to see an actual return, but that just wasn't for me. Good luck though to anyone who does decide to jump in, it's a crazy world. Lol
I recently jumped into mining Dogecoins. I am running a GTX 770 - limiting my card from going above 65c and get about 350khs. I have mined over 10k coins this past weekand hope to bring in many more . Keep in mind I have not been running this 24/7. Hopefully one day Dogecoin follow bitcoins path and make me a few dollars The Dogecoin community is awesome.....if only we could show the mainstream how awesome they really are.

I think the way that they sponsored the bobsled team was an act in that direction. I wouldn't be surprised if there were similar pushes like that in the future.

That guy is an ego-maniac I talked to him on IRC, a lot of over-hype about him. He could move the markets easily when there was 300k in volume (24hrs) but now it's in the millions and a whole new ballgame. People can still move it some but it's a lot harder to the more people get in, even if they move it, it usually corrects itself pretty quickly.

Okay, sure... but it's even stupider to call dogecoin a "joke" just because it has a silly name. The way I see it, the REAL noobs are the ones who say investing in dogecoin is a bad idea because it's just a "joke" coin and it's based on a meme, therefore you can't make any money on it. Yeah, well, tell that to the people who invested in it back in mid December...

like ferma said the publicity has a huge factor in the coins so the more everyone hypes about doge the more the value MAY rise.

I did mine some doge early on just for the fun of it, if it ever goes anywhere I would be impressed. A lot of people say it is a joke, but you never know what the future holds.
