Does YouTube Penalize Videos With Boosted (paid) Views?

Hello:

I have a new music video created as a tribute to the "Yellowstone" TV show (original tune with scenes from the show). It was zooming along at first - about 100 views per hour - which I thought was decent since the YouTube channel has about zero subscribers or videos.

After about 2k views, it seemed to stall out cold, so I bought some views from YTbot , and that pushed the view count to around 12k - but after that campaign ended, so did everything else (and then the view count started dropping by the hundreds).

So my question: Does YouTube penalize videos when they see boosted videos/views? Do they hold views for some reason, even when they are organic? Or maybe they suppress the video so it no longer comes in searches, or even the "UP NEXT" thumbnails?

Now I'm nervous about buying more views, and wondering if the view count may restart without the paid views? Thoughts?

Your channel will be penalized if you buy views from a bad provider.
There are good ones out there. Not so cheap. But they are safe. You just have to look deeper.
 
It could mess up with your reach due to the fake views coming from accounts that are viewing thousands of videos weekly, their watch history will most likely have nothing to do with your niche so it won't be recommended to the right people or won't be recommended at all.

I wouldn't suggest buying views after you monetized your account, it would be much better to make your own views farm.
 
I haven't monetized my video, don't want any problems from the Yellowstone producers or Paramount/Peacock channels with copyright complaints. I've been using YTbot for views, which seems to be a solid provider with a good reputation here on BHW?
 
If the quality of views is good, it will not penalize. Some panels are able to provide real human views also.
 
I haven’t used yt bot views since 2018. Not worth it. Back then just a few would get you to the top immediately. Almost like seo for google. But now there are so many variables. Even decent quality bots they are able to tell. The engagement ratios are hard to make look natural with bot views.

You’ve added 10k bot views to a 2k view video. That’s like 500% more fake than real. How is that traffic finding your video? External? Direct search? From channel>video directly? What is the bots watch habit? Do they watch it entirely then close window, or do they click through to another suggested video? Do they like and possibly comment as well? Or are there different bots boosting your likes than the bots that boosting views?


I could probably think of twice as many questions as this. I’m just going to say it’s so obvious for their algorithm to know when views are not natural or organic.
 
if they detect it yes, i the provider is not really good you can be shadow ban and will make difficult your journey.
 
I used LQ views on a monetized channel, there was no penalty but didn't make any money from the video due to invalid traffic.

I have no doubt YouTube is well aware of boosted/paid views; and viewing g the analytics allows me to see the details you mention. However (having done this before with other videos, which have reached Google page 1), I honestly believe that if the content is solid (entertaining and/or educational), they tend to give it a free pass. After all, a lot of people ignore Google ads, and look for content that at least appears to be organic. Just my two bits...

Oh I think we both have very accurate assumptions here. I’ve had the same experience as you. I should note I don’t think botted views kill a YouTube video as much as they do, say, an Adsense blog..

Here though, I’m more concerned with two things.
1) the ratio. 500% just seems awfully high. The algorithm now can’t tell who the real viewers are. Like where to serve the video that will respond well.
2) quality of views. Especially with public panels. That’s what I meant with all my questions.

For example, if you get 10k bot views that target the video by suggested from playlist and then 1/10-1/5th those SAME bots like the video.. you’re going to get much different results than if say you have 10k bot views that navigate to video by direct link. But then to fix like ratio, you buy likes on the panel.. now you’ve added ‘x’ Likes from different bots that didnt even watch your video. So now you would have 10k views who did not like your video. And 1-4k likes that did not watch your video. That’s not good.

Just an example of one way using a panel can be awful. I didnt mean panels are never worth it. Simply that the wrong panel and wrong strategy can collapse the deck of cards.

No, I wouldn't recommend using low quality bot views. There are many good sellers in the marketplace section. I'd recommend testing the one's that provide CTR views.

Great stuff thanks for the well-considered input. I guess my approach is something I call the "Busy restaurant effect."
Meaning: If someone sees an empty restaurant, they usually keep looking (vs. a busy restaurant, where they assume it's a good spot). Same thing with a video: If something has barely any views, it's not likely they'll bother with a click, vs. the opposite.

FYI I think the video we have is pretty solid but getting anyone to watch it is the tricky part... the hope is to get the YYellowstone production company to check out the tune, and perhaps even use it for the REAL show.
