And does Instagram ask for a second/third phone verification like facebook?

Yes, Instagram is asking phone verification time to time if you are botting.

Followers doesn't have any idea which country IP you are using for your account so they cannot choose to follow or not to follow based on your country as they have no clue what is your country.

I think using country wise proxy or vpn is safer.

There's no way to tell what country someone is from unless they actually put it in their info.

Using a vpn might do a little trick or buy some services that helps you get instant US followers on IG
