Does wordpress.org allow Adult content?

Obviously the tos on wordpress.com says you can't host a pornsite through them, but how about building it through Wordpress.org and uploading it?

WordPress.org doesnt host your site, you do. You can therefore create a site on whatever you want, providing your webhost doesn't have a problem with it.
 
as their TOS says:

We do not have any control over those websites and are not responsible for their contents or their use.​

but please note this:

We may terminate your access to all or any part of our Services at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately.
​
so as I can understand the answer is yes and no. you may upload adult content (or not) and they may shut you down if they want. better to pay few bucks to a real host if you ask me...

I agree and that is why I posed the question. I would not feel good having another tos possibly coming down and removing any site with adult content "some day" if they so chose to.

Yeah, actually you are really up to something because they don't relate to this subject specifically (only to dmca) so they let you interpret the tos how ever you like, leaving them a backdoor to shut it down if they don't like it. kinda strange.
 
WordPress.org license is GPLv2, it's free to run the software for whatever your purpose is.

the "Create a blog" is with the .com site, so tos is there

Yes of course Wordpress.org does, because it is self hosted and licensed under the GNU public license. This isn't even a debate unless you are confused with Wordpress.com.
 
Wordpress.org isn't a host so you can't "upload" any content for that matter.
But you can look in marketplace - some host do allow adult content (nothing illegal though).
 
Common misconception and clarification:

WordPress.com = non self-hosted, commonly with example.wordpress.com

WordPress.org = self hosted

And the answer to op's question is hell yeah, lots of adult sites on WordPress.org

According to wordpress.com, they do permit mature content including text, images, and videos that contain nudity, offensive language, and mature subject material. However, websites that contain such content must be marked as Mature in their system.
 
It has nothing to do with wordpress but your hosting provider. Many dont like adult sites.
