Hi guys,

Im looking to add some homepage copy to my blog. My blog homepage is currently just the blog feed.

Im looking to add a text widget to the footer area (thats the only place i can logically place it using the "Responsive" wordpress them" for the homepage only.

Would this text carry the same SEO value as "normal" text for seo purposes?

Can someone help out please?

What I've heard is that footer links dosent have the same value as the content links atleast. Dont take my word for it.
And as for the widget itself, it all depends on the theme.

Thats the crappiest theme u can use...i have used it once for some split testing and it performed horrible... if you are thinking to stuff your keywords in widgets dont do it is not gonna help you.

No i dont want to "stuff" keywords.

I have a piece of content, just over 1000 words i would like to use on my homepage for SEO purposes. However im struggling on where I can fit it in using this theme.

How did it perform horrible in your split tests. Can you recommend a different theme?

Business, Swift Basic, Constellation, Zenon Lite, Gadgetpoint, Libra, Caja, Pytheas, Skeleton and Skeleton are some free responsive and SEO ready Wordpress themes that you can apply.

It perform better with the Wordpress SEO by Yoast plugin. Some reputed websites are using it.
So, responsive theme are not bad.

Simple answer is no. Cutts answered this in a video. Widget txt vs quality content. no contest.

I think you misunderstood, my theme is called "responsive", all my sites use responsive themes, but the name of this theme is responsive.

So what would you guys recommend for me getting homepage copy for SEO purposes onto my homepage.

Swap themes or something else?

"normal text" as you call it has its value. Your concern about widget text is justified but since Google thrives off fresh content. In my humble opinion, I think a widget would be more beneficial as the text in it rotates with fresh content constantly.
