get expired web 2.0 blogs using scrapebox is quite easy but
worth the time?

Yes, but treat them like properly, i.e. niche relevant for T1 and post some non spun decent content with about us, contact us pages etc. Then juice them up.
 
Definitely worth mixing into your strategy to diversify backlink profiles, but depending on competitiveness of your niche and target keywords, might not be enough in itself

Why do you think people still buy them?

Just make sure they have some backlinks. The better their backlinks, the more power they will pack.
Getting them can be easy if you just settle for expired blogs with pa27, that most times don't even have a single backlink... but that is weird moz sometimes.
 
They work fine, but don't expect to rank anything competitive with them. They are here to provide some slight link juice and diversity, but for tougher keywords, nopes.

No, don't waste your time in scrapping those blog. You will just end up with low quality ones and you would hardly find any good ones.
Better to buy them from fievrr for 5$ or from the market place
 
I some extends totally depends on your niche. I would like to recommend you before performing any activity just Google the relevant keyword to your business and just check few competitor links. Obviously their ranking on number one so there must be some path or direction or trick they are using adopt it. Cheers
 
Yes they do work but I would use them as a part of my overall link building strategy and not rely on them solely for boosting rankings.
