Does traffic to a direct image count as traffic?

Good morning, quick question-

For example lets say I host 123.jpg on my website and I wish to share this image to Reddit. I link the images URL directly and submit to reddit.

10000 people see my image and visit the image directly. Does this count as traffic to my website? Will the traffic show up on my traffic rankings for say Alexa and similar web?

Here's an example of the url structure

https:// example.com would be where my main website is at

the direct image linked would go to

https:// example.com/attachments/123.jpg

Does this count as traffic?

Edit- also is there anyway to track this traffic in google analytics? I've done this several times and know that I've gotten around 25,000 hits to the direct images but this traffic does not show in analytics.

Yes, that is traffic. It is direct traffic to your domain, and all images, content, anything served by your domain is traffic to your domain. Whether that is the point of view from your Host that serves the site or from Google that tracks the visitors to your site via its search. But why YOU would value this traffic is a diffferent matter. Some would argue that anyone "traffic" that finds your image via Google search just to download your image, is USELESS traffic when it comes to monetization purposes.

Yea I suppose the traffic is worthless from a revenue standpoint. I'm taking an ad-free approach on this new project of mine since redditors are my target audience so really just trying to up traffic numbers at this point.

Yes it counts by Google and by your web servers access logs.

That's traffic, definitely. All of those can add up to the overall traffic to your website
