Does TOR slow down your internet significantly?

Hi,

Whenever I turn on Tor, my connection instantly goes into snail mode. Is this normal? It makes using Tor such a chore.

You --> Internet --> Proxy --> Internet --> Site --> Internet --> Proxy --> Internet --> You

Make more sense now? You're passing the baton to another runner, you gotta wait for him to make it all the way around the track and give it back to you. However fast he runs, you're still gonna be just sitting there until he gets back.

sure it will slow down the speed, at leat for me, yes, but reasonable speed, not too slow.

put this at the bottom of your torrc to make it slightly faster, this came from somewhere here on the forums, id like to give someone credit but for the life of me i cant remember their name or be assed searching for it so here it is

Thanks, I'll try that. Tor happens to be slow as fuck for me, slower then similar services.

that's normal whatever comes between you and internet slow down connection speed for sure, but Tor is the quickest so far

tor will be slower than the equivalents, you arent using a single proxy, your using multiples in a row with full encryption... dont expect miracles!
