Does TLD should be country specific or not

Hi,

I am looking to create a new website [Cleaning services] related, I have content available for the site but I want to focus a specific country lets say Australia or UK so should I be buying .co.au and .com.uk or I can simply use .com and and get good rankings ? I never done this so I have no idea.

The CC TLD wont automatically give you a rankings boost, but a CC TLD will typically get you a higher CTR, as visitors prefer domains from their own country.

Both will work, but country specific TLD's will have slight advantage what comes to rankings even though you can set .com to target your country by using WMT.

If you only target Australia and UK then country related domain is better.

In your particular situation, I would recommend getting a country specific domain, preferably hosted in the same country.

Well, the algorithm is easy.

Say, you are a UK-based business and the vast majority of your potential customers reside in the UK. In this case, you should utilize a .co.uk domain name.

This type of a domain will provide a local relevancy boost when potential customers in the UK search for 'cleaning services' in your area. Additionally, such domains are very likely to achieve a better click through rate from the UK searchers compared to a .com or other "international" results.

If you want to promote your domain internationally and will have customers in different countries, '.com' will be a better option.

From an SEO prospective, it doesn't matter which domain extension you will choose. If you promote your site the right way, you can rank equally well both with .com domain and any other local domain extension.
