I’ve seen many SEO strategies where people build tier-2 backlinks to strengthen their tier-1 links, but I’m not sure how effective this method still is with the latest updates from Google. Some marketers say that tier-2 links can help increase the authority and indexation of tier-1 backlinks, while others believe it no longer has much impact or could even be risky if low-quality links are used. For those who are actively doing link building, are you still using tier-2 backlinks in your campaigns? If yes, what types of links are working best for tier-2 these days? I would really appreciate hearing about your recent experiences and results.

Tier-2 link building can still help by supporting and strengthening Tier-1 backlinks, especially for indexation. However, the quality of those links matters a lot now. Low-quality or spammy Tier-2 links may be ignored or even reduce the value of the main link.

Tier-2 still can help, but only when the sources are genuinely relevant and clean. Low-quality blasts don’t move anything anymore. I use contextual niche edits and small outreach tiers that actually drive clicks and relevance, not just raw link counts.

Most of them are low quality rankings. After testing some of them, that is what I can say.

I gave up on tier 2 some years ago... I see no point of wasting time on them.

From what I’ve seen, tier-2 links don’t carry the same weight they once did. They may influence crawling or short-term visibility, but the impact seems inconsistent and highly dependent on the quality of the tier-1 page itself.

If the primary page isn’t earning real engagement or relevance signals, adding layers behind it rarely fixes the core issue. In many cases, strengthening the actual target page or improving its supporting content produces more stable gains than stacking secondary links.

In my experience, tier-2 link building is mostly a waste of time and money now. Google is much better at ignoring low-quality links, so building links just to support other links rarely moves the needle. It’s usually better to spend that time and budget on getting stronger tier-1 backlinks or improving the site itself.

Tier-2 is still great for forcing indexation on stubborn Tier-1 posts. Spam blasts are risky now, so focus on relevant web 2.0s instead. It passes good link juice without triggering unnatural velocity filters.

the goal is mostly helping google find and crawl the tier1 page faster, not blasting authority like years ago. a few contextual posts or forum mentions pointing to the guest post or niche edit usually does the job.

Tier 2 backlinks can still help strengthen and improve the indexing of Tier 1 backlinks, but after Google’s recent updates, this method is only effective when using high-quality and natural links, while spammy or automated links can create ranking risks.

tier 2 links can still help, but only if they’re high quality and relevant. In my experience, using links from related blogs, web 2.0 sites, or contextual content works best to support tier 1 backlinks. spammy or low quality links don’t help anymore and can even hurt rankings, so focus on quality over quantity.

Yes, tier-2 link building can still help, but only if done carefully.

How it helps:
  • Strengthens the tier-1 backlinks pointing to your site
  • Helps index and boost authority of those links
  • Can improve overall link equity flow

It’s still effective in my opinion. Google’s changes over the years haven’t had a huge impact on backlink strategies, and tier-2 link building is still commonly used with decent results.

No they dont. Nowadays people have hard time getting their money sites indexed. You really think Google is going to index profiles and spammed article directories. Those days are long gone.

Yes it works. It's kind of crazy that people are not running tier 2, tier 3 links to power up the tier 1. Makes it easy for the people doing tiered link building at least.

Many of these sources deliver very little ranking impact. Based on my testing of several examples, this is the result I observed.

Yes, the method is still effective. Many people overlook the importance of reinforcing primary backlinks with additional supporting layers. That gap creates an opportunity for those who implement structured, multi-level link strategies to strengthen their main links.

Absolutely agree with you. Even though we operate online, our businesses are still deeply tied to the real-world economy. When global instability hits, clients naturally become more cautious with spending, and platforms tighten their policies, which can slow down operations unexpectedly.

Diversification has been key for me too—different payment processors, multiple traffic sources, and not relying on a single region or market. I've also noticed more

Security is another area that cannot be overlooked. Phishing, account takeovers, and ad account hacks often spike during unstable periods, so proactive monitoring and tighter security measures make a huge difference.

I think the next year will reward the businesses that focus on resilience and adaptability rather than betting everything on one system or meth

Yes, tier-2 link building can still help in Google rankings when used carefully. By building *secondary links to your main backlinks*, you can strengthen their authority and improve the overall impact of your link profile, as long as it’s done in a natural and controlled way.
