I want to know if there is a difference between these two in the search engines eyes.

1. http://www.mywebsite.com/KEYWORD

OR

2. http://www.mywebsite.com/keyword.html

I need to know asap - because I am building a site with oscommerce and am having some issues.

Thanks.

Yeah, the search engines will treat them differently, even if they display the same page.

I am not an expert, but i think that you can redirect website.com/KEYWORD to show up just like that, no need for /index.html
And that is OK for SE.
Or i am wrong ?

There's no difference except how the URL looks like.

I think it's better to use a folder with an index file. It looks better in the URL bar and in the search engines. Just remember to link to your folder and not the index file.
