Does this kind of SEO service help?

help me rank on google? Let's say I have a hair studio in a town of 10.000 people, no other hair studio in this town has done any sort of attempt to rank on google. Would my website be a favorite to appear if I had bought this SEOclerks gig if people searched for [Hair studio TOWN] ?

You are talking about LOCAL rankings or SEO. Go with local link building stuff. Citations, Local Business Dir listings etc.

You're right in the point that if you're a hair studio in a town and all other hair studio's have done no signs of SEO or online marketing then yes if you do some form of marketing you are heavily favoured to rank above them. Although services like you showed I wouldn't recommend, I do SEO myself and through experience have found them off-one link building services are not worth the investment. Although often cheap they won't do much good for your sites rankings as the links will be poor quality. Also, you have to take into account you won't remain high or at the top of Google if you don't consistently 'fight' to stay there.

For targeting a small local business with a ~10,000 reach goal, wouldn't PPC ads such as Facebook/Adwords be preferred? By investing your budget into these sources you can guarantee you will be receiving clicks from various targeted search terms and geographic areas. With the SEO services, not only is it going to be a more long term effect, but if you aren't familiar with what you are looking for then you are at a much higher risk than investing the same budget into targeted ads. My apologies if you are already tackling this method, just a thought
