Does this count as a backlink

    I posted a backlink a forum but when I hover over the link, I see their websites url before mine.

    E.g. http://www.randomsite.com/?URL=(My website is here)

    Not likely, unless that redirect is a 301, then it will count.

    Yes, it all depends on whether there is a 301 redirect in effect.

    You can check this by going here:

    http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers

    Insert the url of the link you have created E.g. www.randomsite.com/?URL=(My website is here

    Then check to see if the redirect is 301 or 302.

    If it's 301, the link will be counted.

    If it's 302, the link will not be counted.

    I doubt its either 301 or 302. Most forums use javascript/meta refresh to redirect. And that's not good for SEO... :(
