Does this content update technique work to increase rankings?

You must know that regularly updating the content improves the ranking in Google.
My question is: if I have four different types of content for one of the pages of my site.
It means to have 4 different versions and post one version every week.
If I do this regularly every week, will it improve my ranking?
Keep this in mind, the first version may be repeated many times, i.e. the first week I use the first version, the second week the second version, the third week the third version, the fourth week the fourth version, the fifth week the first version, the sixth week the second version And so on.

Will it improve my ranking?

I guess that every version has a bit more content than the previous version, so when he post the new version is kind of updating/refreshing the content.
Otherwise I don't know how else to see that.

By the way, updating doesn't necessarily improve rankings, if you add a new section with more content it might make it rank for more keywords or adding more words might improve rankings, but only because you add more content, not because you keep updating the article.
If you keep writing the same thing and spin/rewrite it posting the new version continuosly every week you can have a very small change, I mean the effect that you can see is not because of the updating process itself, I don't know if it's clear.

By the way, updating often can prevent losing rankings on the other side, because Google for some queries tends to prefer new content, so updating it will probably only prevent you to lose rankings but won't give very big gains.
