Hi, I have started using reddit as an additional traffic source which is working but since I am doing that, I have been getting a lot of backlinks from libreddit, like 25 out of my 33 backlinks are from libreddit but they do show up as different refering domains, does this affect my SEO negativity or not? Thanks

Your entire backlink profile is too small for this to affect it negatively. If you're already getting nice traffic from reddit keep it up.

Yes but will I get punished by google for these type of backlinks. They may seem spammy/forced

Referral links don't hurt rankings. Don't worry.

Yes, it will be too early to comment upon his backlink profile as it is very small as of now.

@SocialTuber As many others said, it will not affect negatively. But still you should consider diversifying your backlink profile to be safe for future as you grow. We SEO's make this mistake often when we get decent traffic and revenue, we become relieved and relax, but I suggest your proactively start diversifying your backlink profile from the beginning.

Google stopped taking action on spammy links like those which come automatically without any involvement from the webmaster.
They took the great decision of simply ignoring them.

This is great because otherwise, it would have been very easy for anyone to spam their competitors.

You have to do some really blackhat schemes to get any form of penalty from Google for backlinks. And in those particular cases, you have to get involved as a webmaster.

So as long as you don't do any nasty things yourself, anything else is out of your power and you have nothing to worry about. Unless you are into a backlink campaign, I wouldn't even check backlinks at all for the first 6-8 months as it's pointless.

It's totally normal and does nothing harmful to your SEO.
No need to worry, dude.

In my opinion, it wouldn't affect your site but build diversified links.

I don't think it does, as long as the links are natural and people are getting value from the content that you're offering, this shouldn't be a problem.

One way to measure value is to look at the similarity between the page you're linking from and the page that you're linking to.

Ask yourself, "Does the content of the page that I'm linking to add value to the materials that are on the page that I'm linking from?"

A lot of people overlook this.

They just think that as long as they're linking from a page that has certain keywords that are related somehow to the page that they're linking to they're good to go.

That's too shallow of an analysis.

You have to think in terms of user experience because that's where SEO is headed.

google got smarter and started figuring out how to fight negative SEO. once it was too simple, it was enough to buy 80k spam links from Indian sites and die competing sites to tear them down, now fortunately this is no longer the case.

Tyr to make it average with the high authority sites and reduce building this type of backlinks is a must.

If it is a new site, it's not a big issue for now. But not good all the time.

We used to do this like 10 years ago to competitors. :smirk:
