Yes, it does. However, do not expect it to last for very long - anywhere from a few hrs to a few days depending on competition and frequency of new uploads.

Yes it works 100% and if there is lot of competition,your video will be deleted within one minute otherwise it will stay for one day.

i tried it today with a video (my first video with this unlisted method) , sent some views and some likes and favs then made the video public , i saw that the video is ranking in 3rd position after few hours it's on position 2 !!
so i guess it works
