Does the https:// make any difference (YouTube)

Google redirect you to https if you are logged into Gmail or any other Google service.

It does not make a difference.

without http your backlink will not be a link and that means no link juice from that place. (it will be just displayed like text)

What about the difference between linking to http or https would that make a difference ?

Most web addresses begin with "HTTP," which is an acronym for "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol." It's the protocol used to allow you to communicate with web sites.

HTTPS = a secured site that is verified by a reputable company. You know that little green lockpad you seen in the address bar? That means you don't have to worry about sending your personal information over that site (because it's completely secure).

Oddly enough I just wrote a massive article explaining the difference between HTTP and HTTPS, that's the only reason why I know that ;).

EDIT: No, I don't think it has any lasting effects pertaining to SEO.
