This has been discussed in many other threads. Try using the search tab up at the top of the page and you'll find a lot more information on the topic.
The fact of the matter is that any global tld will get indexed just as well. They are all official top level domains assigned by ICANN and the GNSO as generic tlds. They are promoted by registrars accredited by ICANN and purchased daily by many legitimate businesses and other information providers.
Since google is in the information business, it wouldn't be in it's best interest to significantly favor one tld over another, because doing so would make the information they provide to users less valuable.
It's also true that many of the less expensive tlds are picked up by mass marketers and used for spam, and other low quality type sites because of their low prices. Because of this INITIALLY a new site MAY seem to recieve less weight when it's first purchased and put online, but after the site is established and seen not to be a 'bad neighborhood' type site a .info, .biz, or any of the other generic tlds will rank just as well as a .com, .net, or .org. So from an SEO position it doesn't matter as long as it's a generic tld.
If it's a countrycode tld then there will be a definate disadvantage anywhere other than the country it's designated for. The exception to that rule is for the .tv and .co.cc because the assigned countries contracted their tld's to Verisign and eNIC to be promoted as global tlds. The .tv because of it's connection to tv as in television, the .cc was promoted in the early 2000's as the next dotcom and was favored by many Christian church groups. The .fm is also a possible exception as it's been marketed globally to fm radio stations. In most cases unless your target market is in only in a particular country it's better to stay away from countrycode tlds such as .tk, .de, .fr, .uk, etc. because they won't rank as well outside the assigned geo location.
So from an SEO only consideration it doesn't matter what tld you choose as long as its a generic tld, .com, .org, .net, .info, .biz, etc. As long as you create a decent site, do a good job of on-site SEO, and have a good backlinking campaign any of those tlds can do just as good as another.
From a human visitor standpoint, nothing beats a dotcom. If you are trying to market a product then vistors seem to be more willing to pull out their creditcard for .com domains. If you're wanting to establish an authoritive site then visitors seem to give much more credibility to .com, .org, or .net more so than other tlds. If your good at marketing, this emotional factor can be overcome with good salescopy and a well laid out site. Also if your building a branded site in which your giving out the website in sales literature, brochures, buscards, etc. or doing any kind of offline marketing of your site, a visitor is almost always going to remember the name of the site but is much more likely to remember it as a .com which is another thing to consider.
edit - I personally always like to go for the .com, for a business site, and a .org or .net for an informational site. Especially if it's something I plan to be a permanent project just because it makes the sites seem more professional. But for SEO purposes it doesn't matter, I also have many .info and .biz sites as well.
