Hello BHW,

I manage several affiliate websites in the Netherlands. All these sites now rank automatically with the content.

Now I would like to start building backlinks, does it matter if there are many backlinks with a .com extension?

Thanks in advance!

I think .NL looks more natural to Google if your targeting the Netherlands market.

Country-specific domain extensions are always good for businesses that are targeting local customers – it raises the confidence of your website’s visitors, especially when they come from the country of the TLD.
Also, search engines gives preferences to country-specific domain names when local users are searching for results.

The language of the site is more important, compared to the TLD.

If your domain is country-specific then go with the same TLD backlinks, help to gain more visitors and attention in your region.

But can also add a few .com backlinks, if it's from a trusted site, it will help to boost authority.
