Does social media impact SEO?

I have great experience with google+ witch help me rank

The combination of SEO and social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest can improve SEO ranking

A lot of "pro" in this thread it seems.

Social does help in rankings, but not every social is equal.

The social signals that you buy from your fellow reseller - they usually are unnecessary.
But the social signals from aged accounts, like shoutouts from authority people, the ones that get re-shared and re-posted around social media - those are doing amazing job.
Its not easy to fake natural social signals and Google made few acquisitions to make sure it can read them properly.

Would I buy social signals from reseller anyways? Sure, they are cheap enough, but I wouldn't count it would help in rankings alone. I would use it more for indexing.

Social media simply redirect traffic from social networking sites facebook to your site.
Also a path popular viral if your link on facebook

I think it makes a small difference, but it depends where you get your social signals from. Going for the cheap Fiverr option won't help.

Really depends upon what type of business it is that is being marketed. Massive in terms of local marketing for the right type of business. For example, I know some local tradesman who are getting heaps of work through Facebook.

I once did a lot of social signals to a youtube video. Got it views, likes, tweets, everything. Although it helped the ranking in Youtube, it DID NOT increase the rank in google.

When I hit the video with backlinks it slowly moved up the ranking on google...

Backlinks and content are still King.

Most legit activity to your site helps. If not an immediate direct impact, it can help develop your site's authority in the eyes of Google and other search engines over time. That means when you take future actions, the past authority you've built will be considered.

Social activity is particularly useful if you're making frequent content updates to your site.
