I just want to know about social bookmarking.

Does social bookmarking really build you backlinks ? does it makes differences in serps ?

very little, if any

majority bookmarking sites are nofollow, plus they have hundreds links per page - no chance you can get any link juice. But bookmarking is very good for getting you links indexed.

There's also the bonus of getting extra traffic if your content is really good.

High PR bookmarking sites are really powerful whether they are do-follow/no-follow. I always use bookmarking sites to get index quickly

lol im sick of this question. Learn how to social bookmark right and you can make it effective. I would only ever use it to index links etc. You can get around the whole "nofollow" thing on most sites by simply pinging the RSS which is created when you bookmark something. It's worth it if you go the full mile with it.

As Web 2.0 evolves into the semantic web, social bookmarking leads the way in bringing us closer to a meaningful and personal search experience, wrought through unobtrusive online collaboration and the simple sharing of opinions and information that has been with us since the dawn of civilization.

The wisdom of crowds is proving its worth on a daily basis as information pooling and online collaboration replace the old order of information being handed down from above. As the web is transformed by its millions of users, each drop in the ocean of social bookmarking adds to the ease with which others can navigate their path through the wider ocean of content. You need to make your mark, and add to the ease with which everyday people access information.

The crowds aren't particularly wise if you're looking for at least semi-intelligent and useful content. While I will agree that crowds are somewhat capable of removing spam, that's about it. They still drool over useless information. I've yet to see a social bookmarking site that has an algorithm that is decent. As soon as you "like" one thing that someone of bad taste has liked, you're doomed. StumbleUpon, for instance, has progressively given me worse information over time. Part of it is I got the good stuff, but the internet is large. I've been curious about things I am shown and look to see 100k views. All you have to do is put a bunch of mediocre pictures up and less obvious adds (like at the bottom) and you're golden.

yes it does it helps me get extra traffic and its useful getting known by the audience

social bookmarking works for me.

i have good amount of traffics coming in from multiple social bookmarking sites i posted on and get my site rapidly index.

If you are looking for backlinks, just make sure you bookmark your site on do follow social bookmarking sites. There are handful of those list but i think its not available here on BHW. try to google it.

Which bookmarking sites are the best for seo & which ones are best for just
getting traffic by making a story popular.

Honestly they're worthless unless you have some content that's worth a sh*t to the masses...at least in my experience.
