Does Smush Pro really help

It is horrible. A day after I installed Smush on my Wordpress blogs about half of them lost all of their Goggle traffic. Waited for a week and organic traffic was still at zero. As soon as I removed Smush my Google traffic came back to previous levels.
Overall Smush pleased Google's speed tool, but actual page loading times did increased as calculated by gtmetrix.
I am so glad I got rid of this most harmful plugin.

I use Smush on more than 50 sites with positive results. I don't recognize the bad experiences here.

I'm curious to the alternatives mentioned here tho, gonna test some of these and compare it
