I've wondered this forever. So many people offering services and even this forum has a lot of SEO sections. From my understanding, you can get one specific word to rank higher but may be very unpopular, and big words are taken by big companies with big wallets. Can you beat them ocasionally on a budget on big words? Are really better SEOs people out there?

And more importantly, if I hire someone to do SEO for a product I'm selling (dont have one right now), does it really pay off? and if so, in how long? how do you check if they are real results if it takes forever?

ok but then how do you know if the person you hire really works well and not just making me pay and hope for the best (speaking from a person that have no idea what they are doing)

SEO is all about charts and graphs. not just words :)

That basically covers it in a fairly simple form. https://www.loom.com/share/d5362c0efc0b4288a3f56669ae9c8502

there are a lot of tools to show how your ranking is improving. simply keep track of it. you will find improvement in traic.

Yes it works with lots of ifs and buts.

make sure your product will have a decent margin. unless you don't have a decent margin everything you try is waste.

I have outsourced few times without no luck! That was many many yeaaaaaars ago! Finally i purchased myself everything scrapebox to gsa ser kit to content genratetor. Now i have everything and i am very comfortable with it. I am glad i been learning... I could outrank most my big competotors just with automated tools like gsa. Tiered link building works great with med to easy niches. Everything depends with the niche. thats my believe . I love seo and i still have lack of knowdlge on SMM so no idea

You cant rank bigger keywords easily
go for low competition keywords
you can rank them easily and very quickly
research competitors, so you can find easy keywords
use their stratigy

Of course SEO works. It is only the adjustment of the variables of your site to suit googles algo better.
As easy as it sounds, its actually quite hard, to test different concepts, with different sites, using different approaches such as link building, and keeping track of these changes, to see if you should continue them or not.

This type of question is usually asked by someone who doesn't have a site yet or has committed to a project yet, so I encourage you to do that. You probably won't make $10k a month in 3 months, but you'll sure as heck learn a bit about project management, planning out opportunities, and testing strategies.
