Asking if I should get new monitor along with my laptop for more productivity ?

Also, Does it help when you are blogging where you write and research articles on your own?

Thanks.

For me, I do reckon it does help me
I just cannot split a monitor into smaller section
my OCD just does not let me.
When I try work with just 1 feel, i feel a little cramped and frustrated needing to constantly alt tab in and out

Yes, increases productivity for sure.

As a dev, i need to code but also see the hot reload of the things im designing in code, so having the extra display helps.

If you are going to bother, get a decent brand like samsung 4k, but if you've got a laptop, its more than likely you want to travel and work, so look at portable 4k monitors, theres some good ones for about 250.

I advise though to get a smallish screen, maybe like 17 - 19 inch, i ended up with a 27 inch and its aspect ratio makes it hard to split the screen (maybe checkout the curved monitors)

I used to use two monitors back in the day when I was playing online poker and I LOVED IT!!

One of my goals for 2022 is to actually get a 2nd monitor, I can tell you how comfortable it is and how beneficial it will be for you both personally and professinally.

I used to be a doubter, but honestly having a second screen has changed my life and doubled my work efficiency. Having information you need up while you work on the other screen is a big help and for organising my work and having multiple windows open for moving files around or copying text is a breeze. Also its nice for my investments if I'm needing to keep an eye on certain charts while I'm busy with other stuff, saves have to keep switching tabs of closing screens to check things. For the points you need;
Productivity increase = Yes
Help with blogging writing and research = Yes

You can get some cheap decent sized monitors too, don't have to get top of the line 8k if its just for your writing or work.

It's definitely worth it, but I recently got a big curved 32" monitor and I have to say that I'm in love with it!

The second monitor does increase productivity in my experience and consider having a rolling chair (if you already don't have one) if you are going for the 2 monitors.

i think can help if you stream some game on twitch and see chat in another monitor

A second monitor is a necessity. Once you get used to it, you will wonder how you ever managed to get anything done with just one monitor. 3 monitors are ideal, though. You would want one of them in the portrait mode to read documents, and two in landscape mode.

For my case it absolutely does. I love to keep the browser open on one screen and then have my IDE as well as telegram on the other monitor. Problem is, the second monitor was eating my desk space up so I removed it for now (one is wall mounted). My old setup would be back next year after I manage to clean my work room up a little.

The more space the better! I use 3, and I would use 6 if I could, but I prefer to wait till vr headsets and keyboards are ready in 5 years.

I have been using two monitors for years now and it definitely helps a lot in terms of productivity. I cannot imagine going back to one.

Yeah, i can't work without 3 monitors, 2 1080's, and a 4k (tv), and i would prefer 4-5 of them honestly, but i ran out of desk space.

What do you guys do with 5 monitors though!? :p

Upto 3 is justifiable for me lol.

Also remember, each of those monitor adds 60-70 watts to your overall power consumption.
