Does scheduling posts on wordpress consume resources?

Totally depend on hosting, if you have space go with that otherwise 3 posts are okay to schedule.
You mean disk space or resources space?

It completely depends on your hosting. If you have enough space, go for it; otherwise, scheduling three posts is sufficient.

It barely takes any resources to publish a post in wordpress,
it will only cause a small spike in CPU for a few seconds with the low-end hosting/servers, RAM/Storage/Network are barely impacted,
So, that shouldn't cause any problems unless you're sheduling a ton of posts to be posted at the same time,
If you're having any problems, it's most likely because of other plugins/scripts, a typical wordpress installation shouldn't cause any
