Does Reusing Old Videos on New Channels Still Work in 2025?

I’ve noticed a few creators re-uploading older content (with new thumbnails + titles) on fresh channels and somehow still getting traction.
Has anyone here tested this lately? I’m curious if YouTube’s algorithm still penalizes “duplicate” uploads or if metadata tweaks make it count as new.
Would love to hear real results especially for channels in entertainment or tutorials.

Without Edit old video, Youtube will mark duplicate video, and they will not monetizable at future. I have tried to upload a dead channel video, Then youtube start marking duplicate content and demonetized my channel.

anyone know how to mass edit the old video & pass the duplicate .. thanks

Re-uploads can work if you change enough context, fresh titles, descriptions, and slight edits to pacing or visuals help YouTube treat it as new content rather than a duplicate.
