Yes. Reddit is one of the harder sites to game. They are pretty smart and can pick up on fake upvotes very quick.

makes sense! what i'm thinking of doing is getting 10 of my friends (all geographically in different places in the US) to give me remote access to their comps so i can upvote it manually at the right hour. i think that could beat the system since it seems indistinguishable from 10 random people seeing the content and upvoting it, but not sure if reddit is doing something smarter i haven't thought of.
also, if anyone is looking for compensation to get this done, feel free to PM me!
Yeah I was thinking of doing the same thing. Thing is, the content has to be really good, because even if it happens to get some momentum and moving to the top page, if it's crap, even more will downvote it. If it even hints as an 'ad', it will get downvoted fast. I have my idea planned for when I'm ready, and I hope it doesn't get spotted as an ad.
Just make sure the account you post it with is old and active. If you've been there for 6+ months and post regularly, they won't suspect a thing. But if you're less than a couple months old and have like 10 posts, you'll get called out.

You're pretty dumb if you think there aren't numerous posts at the top of Reddit every day from fake upvotes.
hey jon thanks a ton for the sound advice! i've spent months on making sure it's high quality and is something that redditors will actually enjoy. it by no means is spammy. in all other circumstances i'd just post it as usual, but i'm only going down this route to maximize the likelihood my hard work gets the shot it deserves (who wouldn't?).
I don't there is a workaround, I've looked in to it before as it potentially could bring in big results but I guess content is king. One article I wrote made it to the top of the gaming news section, it then got shared on flipboard but I guess it was because it was something people wanted to read rather than something being forced. If anyone has a method then please share!

My reply is RE reddit only, but, as I say to all questions like this - it's not just about your IP address! Your device fingerprint will give away your ID, and the votes won't count. Research device fingerprints, and find out how to spoof/change them.
