If you get a backlink from a PR7 site is that worth more linkjuice than an equivalent site of PR0 or PR1?

I've seen people say yes and no so I want to know what this forum thinks.

It's my understanding that PR is just a popularity contest and has no bearing on linkjuice, although a site with high PR may be more authoritative than a site with low PR and therefore its links may give you more linkjuice, it is not the PR itself that is giving it more linkjuice.

I think you probably answered your own question. That said, yes a link from an authority site is worth more than shitty blog comment links.

But the authority has nothing to do with its PR rating, right?

So is there a secret "authority" rating scale that isn't publicized?

It's better if you want higher PR for your website. Otherwise, just go for authority websites. I have a PR5 website that ranks like shit, appears on page 4+ whenever I write an article, then I have a PR2 website, that ranks first page for every article.

As far as i know a link from a PR1 is the same as 10 links from a PR0, a link from a PR2 is worth 10 links from a PR1 and so on.

If a page is a PR5 for example, the amount of outbound links on that page determine how much link juice goes to each link, so if it has 10 outbound links each link gets a 10% of the link juice from the PR5, if it has a 100 links, then each link gets 1% of the link juice. Thats why its important to find a high PR site with not a lot of OBLs, the juice is split between each of the links.

Can anyone confirm this??

So you're saying more PR = more linkjuice?

So PR is only useful for giving other sites PR and has nothing to do with linkjuice. Is that what you're saying?

In other words, PR has no point other than giving PR to other websites?

Yep. Otherwise all sites would have to do to climb the rankings is just spam 100s of PR0 sites to get up the search rankings which are ten a penny.
I have a site with 28 backlinks, all PR2 to PR6 and its doing better in the rankings than sites with 1000s of backlinks. The quality of the link makes the juice it lends more powerful.

The authority is given to the page because of its popularity, the more people link to it, the more Google sees it as an important authority site which it turn helps your own site. Dont link to a page with 1000s of outbound links, these share the link juice between them so more OBLs, the less juice passes to each.

I agree. exactly what truepals_forever said, But if it is do follow link then it count's.

Thanks.

Hey,
PR is the criteria which sets the reliability and relevancy of a site by measuring it on some standards. If, a site having link from such site means that is is referring that site therefore some benefit of the Page Rank of high PR sites is given to the referred site.
This means that any link from high PR site will surely affect the PR of the website.

yes..

high PR with do-follow are very good for your websites..

PR makes a huge difference to link juice. Like at school if a hot girl liked you, you became a lot more kudos than if one of the nerds liked you. The higher the PR the hotter the girl!

But what if she has a lot of OBLs? Dude's don't like that chick as much! :D

Yes, a high PR link is much more better than any spammed to death blog links.

Correct. People are often stupid in regards to PR. I've sold a few websites that were PR4-5 that were earning almost nothing for more then PR1-2 sites earning 10x more then the PR4-5.

Ok but that wasn't exactly what I was asking.

Two websites each with the same general content and number of OBL. One is PR0, the other is PR7. Do you get more link juice (not PR) from a backlink from the PR7 site than from the PR0 site?
