Does Poker + Offline Posters = $$$?

Me and a few friends want to try the following offline and I was keen to hear any input, feedback, suggestions etc.

1 - Register <CityName>Poker.com

2 - Redirect it to one of the big poker affiliate places that allow you to schedule free tournaments.

3 - Make thousands of posters saying somthing along the lines of "Love Poker? Play Online with thousands of other People in <cityname> - Free Tournaments" etc etc.

4 - Plaster them all over the place, pubs, signs wherever.

It's pretty basic but would loooove some feedback.

i was thinking the same few days ago... but in my country poker isnt really that spread i think
 
It would be illegal to put the posters up, as I'm sure you know, but yes it will work, just depends how good your creative poster designing skills are ;)
 
No, I dont believe youd be "prosecuted" , probably fined, but thats about it. IMO, its a good idead, but in the long run wont be profitable, as youd probably be fined per poster, not just one time.
 
Do you really think if you put up a poster or sign advertising your link that the county is going to do this research to send you a fine? No, they will probably just take down your sign and throw it away. My town is flooded with signs.

You all are paranoid about being fined per sign.
 
In my city one major group has the rights to put posters up in most places. If you put yours up in one of their spots it is pulled down/plastered over and if you have contact details on the poster they call you to let you know that they are the only ones with official rights. The good news is that you can pay them to distribute your posters (saves time but they make $$$).

You still have all the supermarket notice boards, car windsheilds etc though.
 
You should try this out and pay people to distribute hundreds of posters.

I think that's a good idea.
 
you could do this with any advertisement - just as long as they stick, seem convincing, and hide your tracks :)
 
i have heard of people doing this. it does work. they can kiss my ass if they want to fine me. another way is posting in the events section of craigslist. have people sign up for your email list and then email them with the date of the tournament.
 
If I put out 1000 bandit signs in high traffic areas, any realistic guesses on how much traffic I might get? I know there are variables involved, like nice readable signs, good locations ect, but lets say I have my bases covered...ideas on traffic?
 
1000 signs x 1000 views per day x % you think will visit the website
 
I've thought about this but instead of poker I would use CPA-offers and give away free stuff. I'm sure it could work.
