All the guides I've been reading and case studies are from 2013-2014. Does anyone know if it's still a good strategy to rank quicker? or have the host sites gotten smarter from this method?
Thank you for your help! I am getting ready to launch an experiment will be posting a case study as a newbie

Yup. These two might be a good start:

I actually gave it a try last year and had some interesting results with it. I think I briefly went over what happened in another thread, but after looking at the SERPs for the keyword right now, one of the pages I was trying to get pushed to the second page is still there, but the other page was moved to the second page, so there was definitely some movement.

All I did was spam a few of the social media pages with tier 1 backlinks and watched to see if anything would happen, but I'm certain there are much better strategies out there.

Tried it two times in the last 3 months with a FB page... failed both times.

Its a 50/50 deal, sometimes it works - other times it doesn't.

If we're talking about spam ranked parasites that's the same experience I had. In fact, there was a very clear window of time (late 2014/early 2015) where I was churning out and ranking FB properties 1 after another after another like cake. I went to take a 2 month break to work on local sites. Came back to FB and nothing fucking ranked anymore.

The "evolution" I personally saw was:

SB +YT - Back in 2011-2012 guys were blasting AA lists and ranking parasites for terms like "how to clean my mac" (pewep was one of those guys lol). Then GSA came...
GSA+YT - GSA works, but eventually YT is devalued, hundreds of thousands of YT videos are swiped off page 1. G does this to strike back at spammers.
GSA+FB - This further proved YT was the problem, and not GSA links. Right up until G released another update that neutered GSA links.. and tons of parasites got hit.
PBN+FB - I saw a surge of FB pages flow onto page 1 now being backed up with PBNs rather than GSA.
PBN+.com - Spammers realized the whole point of parasite spamming was to leech authority from strong sites and rank using SPAM. Not PBNs as once you start doing that you create a huge opportunity costs. YTF invest / build a network and point authority links at a FB page? Cause that page will rank a few months quicker? But you don't control that page? Fuck that. Makes more sense to rank my own .coms. Anyone who was following a lot of keywords this was what I saw.

There was a FB rebound after YT, then a shift from GSA to PBNs, then eventually from parasites to .coms.

There are still tons of ways GSA ca be used. And PBNs. But parasites in general are making less & less sense. I just don't see many parasite spammers on G these days doing much of anything other than the movie method. Which is a shitty, brutal, 3rd world method.

In all seriousness Tommys parasite guide is one of the best on here. But if you spend a lot of time these days just looking at G.... dudes have mostly abandoned parasites.

Well, Parasite SEO is where you use someone else's site that has a large authority to build pages on and then rank using the links, you normally wouldn't be able to use on your own domain.

And Parasite Page SEO - where you are piggybacking on the authority of existing platforms (like Facebook) that Google already loves with an inner page of your own there, isn't new news in SEO. Normally this is faster, more stable and more expendable than a website of your own and is a solid traffic generator and/or client-impresser.

But over time, Google's fickle nature means that some Parasite platforms go out of style (with Google) while others surge upwards for no apparent reason. When it comes to Google, today's Rebel Mouse can be tomorrow's Ezinearticles.com - if you've been around SEO or IM for a while, you'll get what I mean. - BB

One of mine is ranking since almost a year now (buzzfeed parasite), making $800/month. Not much, but considering it cost me only a few hours of work and about $300 in linkbuilding...

I plan on making a lot of new ones soon, to see if I can replicate it. This one was just some fun thing I did a year ago, and it seems strange that it is ranking steadily on page 1 for some really good keywords.

You may be right but not fully. Parasites are still the best thing to rank for a new keyword with a lot of hype. For example when the Indian phones Freedom 251 came out - the first page of Google for "buy freedom 251" was littered with reddit subreddit parasites.

Very interesting info! thank you fellow blackhatters, Im going to definitely try it even if its just for fun. I might make a post and keep it updated with my process :)

Yes sure it works, I can not go into details, as those strategies I know is for my customers. But it works

Interesting my and stuffed full of useful info. Thank you!

So many people jumped on using such well known properties as FB, YT, a subreddit, etc as parasites that Google learned how to more easily spot it. Leith recently explained a way to create parasites with more random properties, that do not stand out in in way that can be detected:

I tried to PM you before but I couldn't because I didn't have 15 posts yet but is it possible for you to help me rank my amazon product page for a competitive keyword? If you have another form of contact we can discuss further if possible. Thank you so much.

Your entire post history is asking for people to rank your presumably less than ideal amazon page. Nobody wants your presumably less than ideal amazon detritus. Do like everyone else and go look at the marketplace if you would be so kind?
