Does old expired domain still hold the same value?

As we know domain age is important to SEO.

My question is,

let say I found a domain that was first registered in 2010, then after 5 years it was dropped.

Does it count as a domain of 11 years? Or 5 years? or when it expired, it will start again from 0 (as a new)?

Would like to hear some answers from experts in this field.

If niche relevant and clean of previous spam, it retains its value after setting it up. How much of the original power/juice/authority is debatable.

Domain age is completely irrelevant.

I am repeating myself here like a parrot, but if there's any age that matters, then it's how long has your content been in index.

Considering you are working with expired domain, that has been pretty much fully deindexed, you are working with 0.

If you were to rebuild an expired domain that is still indexed, the age of content would not reset.

The major reason why people go after expired domains is the ready-built link profile which will help you to get a good initial boost,
Age does slightly matter compared to the overall value and it's not something to make a decision or buy an expired domain based on,
And it could even worse in such a case as the domain is deindexed, Google will treat it as a brand new one most likely,
Not to mention that it could possibly be spammed/penalized and/or with a bad usage history

Aged domains are far superior to expired ones in some cases
All of the pages remain in the index as long it's alive

I'm not sure how does it matter? As long as the links are live, the domain should have trust and authority. Get a domain with 100+ RDs and highly relevant. You'll see good results, even if it was dropped in the past.
