Does official Youtube "promote" option anything?

I’m curious about this too. Does YouTube Promote actually help organic performance after the campaign, or is it just paid views with no long-term effect?
It's more like the second.
Thanks. Depends on what? Kind of video?
Depends if you're selling your own or affiliate products with their links on your videos. If you intent to monetize the channel only through ads then it isn't worth it to pay for a campaign; Sure more eyeballs will see your videos but the cost of acquiring those eyeballs is greater than what you get paid from it.

Is it worthy to pay Youtube for promoting new video? Has it any effect or is it just a cash grab?
Paying to promote a video on YouTube can give you quick views, but it doesn’t always help the video grow naturally. A lot of the time people watch for a few seconds and leave, so it doesn’t really boost the video in the algorithm.

From what I’ve seen, SEO promotion on YouTube usually works better. If the video is optimized for search, it can keep bringing views over time, not just while you’re paying for ads.

Paying to promote videos on YouTube can work if your goal is ads (sales, reach, targeting).
But for growing subscribers or organic views, it usually has little impact.

I tested it once on a new video.
It did bring views but mostly low quality traffic and almost no real engagements or subs. Didn't really help long term.
Personally I'd rather focus on better thumbnails, titles and organic reach instead.
